LOM P’s dinner gathering

Amy’s Kitchen (Amy’s Beauty House) is one of my highly recommended restaurants. New style veggie food there should give you a fresh appreciation to the vegetarian cuisine. Pictures should tell you more than words on how satisfied the LOM Ps were.

The dinner earned thumbs up from my “classmates” and we then paid a visit to JC Choir’s rehearsal in the same building. Great!

March Fellowship Gathering – Harp Appreciation

Shine Like Rubies

Instead of having a very formal monthly gathering, this is a rather relaxed one: dinner + harp appreciation. Though there were some hiccups in between and at the last minute, everything was settled perfectly at the end. It’s exciting to try “touching” the harp for the first time. My music “nerves” revive again. Tutor Michelle from Hong Kong Harp Services Limited was such a nice and pretty tutor who also presented to us environmental bags as souvenirs. New members and Jayceettes all enjoyed the night and some of use even registered to learn this elegant musical instrument. I was one of them! See when I can show off what I have learnt. Stay tuned for my learning progress!

Another rewarding JC day

CEO Forum

Thought I had to show support in the morning for the CEO Forum’s opening ceremony, yet I was informed that there’ no more ceremony in the morning!!!!! No one informed me about this as I was invited to join it one / two weeks ago. I was free but was just very tired to spend my time there for the whole day. I decided to stay and listen to one session before I left for lunch. To my surprise, the first session was splendid. It was about a kind of new technology of screen / board made by nano technology (difficult to explain it here).

I returned to Poly U for the highlight of the day – CEO Forum with李力持, 司徒永富, etc. as guest speakers. The greatest part was not only the business sharing made by the speaker, but also the rich life experience they shared with the audience. A very useful note from one of the speakers: you’ll never know when you can meet the perfect one (chance), so you gotta treasure the one you are encountering at the moment.

We collected 4 banners from CEO Forum for our Banner Bag project, thank you OC team!

Mini ASPAC night + Earth Hour地球一小時

Got together with many ASPAC participants from different chapters and learned more about the trip. We supported the “Earth Hour” in a bar. Within the four walls of a bar, drinking was of course the most popular activity there. It was my first time to drink a glass of “shooter” with a few persons. I did not recall how this drink was called. A very funny one as we gotta drink it when the fire was on. Haha, my straw was melted for the first time so I had to join the 2nd glass… really a bit scary when the fire tried to claw from my straw!

NOM Professional PR Training Workshop Series 1

As a PR, I am always interested to keep myself upbeat within this profession through attending different PR training courses. Yet, I was surprised to see more than 100 persons at JC office tonight who were interested in “PR”. The topic was “New Era of Marketing”, presented by Ms Alice Fok, General Manager of DT Communications Asia Pacific. It’s not the best training course in this field yet I found the content was inspiring. Also, there were a lot more to do for the program rundown and logistics arrangement of the night. Another good learning experience, all you need to do is participation!

NOM E-bid Book Seminar

Frankly speaking, I have never submitted electronic versions of bid books. During the time I was a board member, I needed to prepare bid books in hard copies. The great invention of Internet and technology lead people entering a new age. Although I have submitted a lot of award bidding materials for my company before, the sharing from CJC PP Senator Polsion and JCI Trainer Senator Francesca did give me insights, of which benefitting myself, my chapter and my company.

Trust me, always keep yourself open and you will be rewarded as much as you can!

Farewell Asako

If you ask me what have you achieved at JC so far, I can name numerous things while meeting new friends must be one of the key items. I feel very glad to join JC Choir as I really love singing. Getting to know a group of music lover is a wonderful and beautiful issue. Tonight, we have to farewell Asako (PP of KJC) who will continue her living in Japan. Though not many people could join the dinner at the end, we had a nice time there with good food and free wine. Asako also brought us a box of very yummy “dessert” from Japan.

It was a great dinner gathering and Asako shared her views on JC. She also told us the reason she chose to join JC: Asako thought JCI offered an invaluable chance for young people to develop oneself. To her, this chance can even be comparable to achieving a master degree at the college! She knew that there were JCI around the world and somehow she got the chance to relocate to Hong Kong, so she was able to join JCIHK and started her memorable and rich experience here.

Asako, all the best to you and see you at Nagano ASPAC this June!

An early evaluation and review meeting

I’ve invited my Uncle Bill to visit JC Office in the morning. All started from Uncle Bill’s visit to HK the other day from Boston for some personal matters. He’s a Past President of Lion’s Club in the US while he’s recently set up another chapter and be the Charter President at Connecticut. We then had a lunch meeting with “Excom” together with two friends of Uncle Bill – Margaret and David. The meeting was fruitful and very meaningful. Bill shared his points of view on our chapter’s issues / problems. Margaret and David did give us very valid comments as well. We all enjoyed the meeting and were inspired to think further what we should do next. Change of our mindsets is inevitable. Jayceettes, are you ready to see the new transformation of the chapter?

After that, we had board meeting and then celebrated the nearly being forgotten Director Winnie’s birthday.

Good news from member Mandy Yeung

JTT Mandy Yeung has delivered her baby boy 5.72lb on 9 March at Baptist Hospital. I visited the new Mama and BB today on behalf of the Board of Directors, and presented a gift to the BB. Both the Baby and Mama are fine. Let's wish Mandy and her BB all the best.

A busy day / A busy life 1

0900 Urgent Trust Fund committee meeting to discuss about the case of HSBC
1200 Lunch with my respectful Conductor Tong, Zhongruan Tutor Ms Chu and friends from the Music Office
1600 Personal appointment
1800 Church

Today’s itinerary concludes a bit the type of person I am. Besides JC, my life is actually filled with music since some 20 years ago. Then, participation in church makes up an important part of my life. Of course, I also need a balanced life to meet up with friends of different circles. Who says my life is only occupied by JC, haha? Sometimes, I also found myself too busy and I think it may be time for me to cut down some commitments so to leave more time with my family and beloved friends, as well as to serve the community.

「開你的心DAY」啟動禮@Poly U

Sunday is a day for rest, no matter for work or JC :) I had “yum cha” lunch with my family. Meanwhile, I kept thinking about whether to join the「開你的心 DAY」啟動禮. Board members were available to join me and I totally had no idea of what this function was. At the end, I decided to go and support the event though I did not really wish to.

Not until I reached the event hall did I realize that the event was actually hosted by RTHK. All of a sudden, I felt at ease since I thought there would be a lot to see and learn from :) Yes, a simple and nice opening ceremony with guests’ sharing about their views on “happiness”. This is a very meaningful project and I learned a lot as a participant as well.

What an inspiring experience – no one can guarantee what you can get / learn from an incident, but if you don’t pay your effort to experience it by yourself or take action, no matter how good I tell you it is, it will only be my story and not yours. Now, I am telling you my experience, please tell me your experience through active participation!
