Another AGM Day

My itinerary of the day:
- North District JC

37th Annual General Meeting and September Fellowship Gathering

A wonderful day!

The AGM has been held successfully at Regal HK Hotel. Many members, PPs, friends from other LOMs attended our function. I was nervous at the beginning as I did not know what I would be challenged by the members but I felt at ease in a while as you were treating me and my Board so well. In fact, I was expecting some more difficult and challenging questions. I did want to explain more about how things were worked out during the year. I was ready to answer your questions. But fortunately / unfortunately, Past Presidents and members were nice to us :)

My "baby girl" was born! Congratulations to President Elect Kathy and the 2010 Board of Directors. Please keep the spirit up and I am sure you will have a successful and fruitful year of 2010 at JC. Light your Passion, Pursue the Excellence.

Lucky that there were four AGMs in the day and three of them were held at Regal HK. HKJTT's was held at basement 2 while VJC and LRJC's were held upstairs. It was really touching when I saw so many NOM Officers and Presidents from LOMs coming to congratulate us during our MFG. Even VJC P Winnie and LRJC P King were present (with their president chains on).

The MFG was held successfully with lots of time for members to mingle around. Many Past Presidents had come and gathered together. Sometimes, we just don't need many programs. It is good enough to meet and chat with each other.

During the event, I had presented long year service award to PPs and members. All people enjoyed the evening!

More AGMs

After church service, I made up my mind to go to Sha Tin JC’s AGM. I only knew that it was held at Regal Riverside at Shatin. Without checking the exact location, I just took train to Shatin. Yet when I got off the train, I suddenly felt that I should get off at “University” station instead. I then quickly went down to the platform again and got on another train. Got off at “University” and I suddenly realized that the hotel at “University” should be Hyatt instead of Regal! I was tired by then and thought I should just go and hire a taxi as I did not want to return to the train again. Really made me crazy!

I went to 3 AGMs in total today: Sha Tin JC at Regal Riverside (HK$80), Apex JC at Royal Garden (HK$100) and City JC at Eaton (HK$40). Thanks P Cammie and P Renee for offering free rides to take me from one point to the other. I will seriously consider to buy a car next year so that I can attend many JC functions on one day.

Annual Report / 9th Board Meeting

Before the meeting, my team was busy packing the annual report. When I looked at it, I felt so proud of being a Jayceette. This year, to save time, we did not send the report for printing. We just sent it out for digital output and ring binding. But the quality of the report is not bad at all. The section on Chapter events’ photos is marvelous. Well done!

Board meeting started at 3.30pm. Though not all board members arrived on time, they had all come at the end. While since we did not have birthday celebration this time, no picture was taken and so we could not capture this full board scene. Right, I realize after doing the bid book and annual report that my board members seldom get together to take pictures. We don’t have a nice team pictures during the year!

We still have a lot of works and projects ahead. The team now works very close together and they all understand the importance of teamwork. It is not too late to discover that we have a kind of unvoiced pact among each other. I can feel the “Shine Like Rubies” spirit from each other.

I stayed at JC office a little while more to clear up some tasks. I then missed the Peninsula JC and Bauhinia JC AGMs.

First personal interview of my life

I remember that I might have being interviewed after I won a musical award when I was young. But that is a long long time ago. So I still treat this HKET interview my first ever interview of my life!

The press supplement will be published on 16 October, the day before our anniversary celebration banquet. Stay tuned!

A hectic day

Busy at work. Crazy at JC.

It’s the day to finalize the annual report. Messages, reports, minutes, activity photos, etc. were not 100% ready for use. Past President Mariana, Immediate Past President Anny and myself worked closely together to review and amend the content of the annual report. Secretary Betty was out for meeting, so that we three took up the responsibility to make sure everything was correct. At around 5pm, everything was done and I just did not want to read the report again as I was afraid that I could continue to spot any mistakes there. Time has come for printing: Time’s up, pens down!

Thanks General Administration team. Special thanks go to Advisor Past President Mariana.

A bit emotional

This year is not easy for me. As a leader in the company, I think my role at JC helps build up more confidence at work. I am also equipped with corporate mind for JC. Yet, both roles are challenging. About JC, I have never thought of so many things. I have to pass one challenge after the other each week. Getting close to AGM and anniversary, I start to lose control of my emotion as I have paid attention to my company work as well. My mind is being torn into two parts. Going crazy a little bit… But if it is not JC, I won’t realize that I have so many other friends who always support and wait for me. I am so touched by their words and messages left on my facebook. Haha, seeing these messages, I become much more emotional. Thank you friends.

2010 Board of Directors candidates interview and examination

I did not have any roles at the 2010 Board of Directors candidates interview nor examination. I just wanted to encourage the members. I bought some drinks to them while they just started the examination, so I could only sit down at the room and mingle with other Election Committee members.

Still nothing to do, I then left the JC office. Before I left, I went to peep through the glass of the door like a mother to the candidates and then went back home.

Meeting & HJC Annual General Meeting

The whole of September is filled with meetings. Had a casual afternoon tea meeting with Jayceette friends at Causeway Bay. I then went to Harbour JC’s AGM at Regal Hong Kong Hotel.

The special thing today was the speech that HJC President Leo said. I can’t agree with him more about the “theory” that we are all members of a voluntary organization, so that we should commit to our roles as nobody forced us to join. Right, maybe we are too tired during the year to move on, yet if we can’t commit in only one year, how we can take up jobs which may take up a lot more times in other areas of our lives.

4th Joint Board Meeting

I know I’ll miss Joint Board Meeting next year. Next Joint Board Meeting will be held in December, which will be the last one for me. I like this kind of “e” meeting, no paper’s around. But honestly, this allows most of us to surf the website. Everyone was looking at his / her own laptop monitor. They were all seemed to be very concentrated but no one knew what they were really doing behind the screen. Funny :P

Accounting and Finance Area Meeting

I admit that I am not a “finance” person. Thank you Advisor for guiding HT along. Even though we ended the meeting late, we were happy to settle most of the area matters. Good, a healthy account is essential to the chapter. Be a JC, we launch great projects, but more importantly, we keep our financial record clean and tidy.

Courtesy Dinner by 2010 NOM Board candidates

It is my first time to attend “courtesy dinner”. Many of my JC friends will continue to take up roles at the National Board next year. The 2010 National Board candidates presented their plans for next year. It was a great time for all National Board and LOM Ps getting together again.

Nearly all LOM Ps attended the dinner, so it’s a good time for us “classmates” to get together. We then went to Sheraton for P Gathering after the dinner.

City Lady JC AGM

2nd AGM this year. First time to attend City Lady’s function. When I reached there after my own chapter’s training, I could only witness the election results. Someone may ask why I have to rush from here to there. I would say it’s because of JC. It’s busy and tiring, sometimes very frustrating to attend so many functions, yet I have to stay positive. I do enjoy every moment when I attend other chapters’ events since I can learn from every single details that I can see. Being a PR professional, I just like to observe and experience what others do. So, I will try my best to enjoy and attend JC functions in the rest of this year.

2010 Board of Directors Training @ 紙藝軒

When I looked at the new Board of Directors candidates, I found that time really knows how to fly. The upcoming Board of Directors candidates are green but they all have enthusiasm. After a year of re-establishing the foundation, we have started to gather a group of young and passionate ladies to work for the betterment of the Chapter. Number of active members is increasing. Let’s keep our spirit up. No matter it’s “Shine Like Rubies” or “Light your Passion; Pursue the Excellence”, we deliver the best of ourselves to JC and live the best of our lives.

IJC AGM

1st AGM this year. Glad to enjoy an AGM at Jockey Club, a very nice environment. Happy to meet so many JC friends. It’s a chance for me to chitchat and mingle with them. When I saw classmate Michael being appreciated by his Board of Directors and JC members, I felt so touching as I knew how hard he had tried to work for the best for his chapter.

My sister – the new member Lilian, went there with me. Strange experience that now Lilian can join me for JC events. Over these days, we have more chances to talk and discuss about JC as well as ways for improvement. We are just like working in the same company. Now, we not only talk about family matters, but also discuss about JC things at home.

HKJTT’s AGM will be held on 19 September, still a lot of things to be prepared!

HK Federation of Women PRC 60th celebration Gala Dinner

As a PR professional, I like attending functions, especially large scale ones. Maybe I’m really a party animal. I like to see how other people organizing events. Each experience is a good learning opportunity to me.

It’s a grand party tonight. Over 120 tables for the Gala Dinner celebrating PRC’s 60th anniversary. IPP Anny, NCDD/PC Kathy, VP Winnie and myself attended the event. BJC P and members were there. There were so many prominent guests attending as well. Those famous ladies that you could name were there, including 董鮑笑微, 范徐麗泰, 梁愛詩, 葉劉淑儀, 李麗娟, 林貝聿嘉, 何超瓊, 周梁淑怡, etc. PP Connia was in charge of the event. She introduced us to many VIPs.

Looking at this big event, we learned a lot on event management. We all realized that we should not confine ourselves at JC; we should open up ourselves and learn from others.

Yes, I am silly… some sharings

This is a year filled with excitement and challenges. Though a lot of time has been spent on JC, I think I have gained a lot of experience and learned a lot of things. This morning, I did something funny and silly to some of my members. No matter what, I just want my members to stay happy. We are all here for community services and we learn to be leaders here. We all work for the betterment of the society. The most important thing is to be positive. JC is definitely adding colors to our lives, don’t let it create burdens to ourselves… here ends my sharing!

August Fellowship Gathering – A Dinner Gathering for YOU

A very warm gathering for Jayceettes. Around 20 young ladies joining the dinner at a cozy restaurant Zambra in Wanchai. Though the atmosphere was very relaxed, we went through all the JC procedures. JC Creed, Recognition, P Welcome Speech, Board Report, Round table Introduction of Members and Guests, Dinner… We did not have any speakers for the night, this allowed us to have more mingling time. This also allowed us to know each other better.

We welcomed two new friends to join our gathering and everyone enjoyed the gathering very much. We celebrated the August birthday stars before we closed the event.

If you have missed the event, please check with those who attended the dinner gathering. If you were there, hope you would spare your time with us again. Next gathering is AGM at Regal Hong Kong on 19 September. See you!

I am very tired…

Bid book bid book bid book… endless nights with bid book. I nearly want to give up. Thanks my family for keeping me motivated. Though my mother could help me do the bid book, she encouraged me try my best. She said if I had to believe I was outstanding in bidding the award, so that I had the drive to write it. In fact, at this stage, you won’t believe it, it’s only 10% done.

At this time, I also need to settle the little problems arising from next year board’s preparation. Challenges again, how can I finish so many things at a time? This has been the biggest lesson I keep learning this year. Nevertheless, I believe, things will work out by themselves. Nothing more should be worried of. Yes, stay calm and keep writing bid book!

<有話.直說>工作坊 / PJC Anniversary Celebration Banquet

It’s been a long while I haven’t enjoyed a seminar like this. Patrick Dunn and Derek Li are great speakers. They really drew attention from the audience. Around 100 participants on the floor did enjoy the sharing from the star speakers. They were humorous and they had a lot of interactions with the audience. Catherine Chai, an ex-Jayceette member, was the third speaker who taught us how to achieve our goals through exercises of acknowledging our “self”.

Many NOM Officers and LOM Presidents came and supported this event. Before this event started, I went to visit LRJC’s function upstairs.

An unexpected guest came to say hello to me. He is William Lam (林柏希) from Metro Radio. I’ve called him twice earlier, NP Ken knew that so he invited William to come down from LRJC’s event and met me. Great, then I knew him and hopefully could further discussed with William on media exposure issue.

After a great event, a few of us headed to PJC’s anniversary celebration dinner at Kowloon Shangri-la Hotel. We then went into the washroom for make-up, changing. Happy thing was our “honorary photographer” Joseph initiated to follow us to the hotel and take pictures for us.

Can you imagine, we have a total of 19 Jayceettes attending this event: HLP Jennifer, my PA Alice, PP Nora, PP Margaret, PP Anita, PP Jeritza, PP Eva, IPP Anny, NHT Carina, NCDD Kathy, SM Winnie Wong and SM Angela, VP Winnie, VP Joanne, HS Betty, HT Fanny, Director Winnie, Director Vanessa, Chairman Lisa, PM Lilian and mysef. It’s like a pre-show of our anniversary!
