國情研習班 Study of Mainland Culture @ Beijing (9 – 13 Apr)

There were about 40 JCs joining this trip, including NP, members from the National Board as well as many Chapter Presidents. The major purpose of this trip is to learn more about the current development and culture of China. Courses we attended include:
1. 中國世界形象的演變及危機處理
2. 當前國際金融危機與中國經濟形勢分析
3. 中國人口狀況與發展
4. 中國法律體系、憲法與香港基本法

All the speakers are experts in the areas they teach. Some of them are even tutors for the national leaders and officials within the China’s government. Though I was not interested in all topics, I felt very proud to have finished the program. I highly recommend my friends, no matter JC or not, to participate in this since being a Chinese, we should learn more about the latest development of our motherland. I am certain that you will be amazed of the growth of China.

Besides the educational part, all the delegates were honoured to meet up with a few important government officials such as national political consultant (全國政協). I did raise a question in one of the sessions!

Being a JC, I am so delighted to have more opportunity for me to chitchat with my JC friends, especially my “classmates”. This helps enhance our friendship. In addition, the sightseeing program on the last day was the “highlight” of the trip. It was my first time to visit the Bird’s Nest (鳥巢) and the Water Cube (水立方). Many of us went there for the first time and we had taken so many pictures in these two places. The visit was so memorable: I still remembered the grand opening ceremony of the Olympic Games last August and how Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals at the Water Cube.

Too many nice memories… just want to say, you must make yourself available for the trip next year. This is a not-to-be-missed event in the year!
